According to Powersolve, if your smart phone, tablet, MP3 player or digital camera uses a standard USB outlet, then the company’s recently introduced range of power sources and chargers will charge or power your device away from the mains. Read on to find out more…

Powersolve has been in business as a specialist in power supplies and power conversion technology for more than 26 years. During this time Powersolve has supplied millions of power conversion products such as AC/DC power supplies, DC/DC converters, DC/AC inverters, battery chargers, batteries, uninterruptible power supplies and many other products to satisfy a variety of applications for customers worldwide.

The company provides major customers in the electronics industry, communications, datacoms, telecoms, industrial, oil and gas – in fact most types of industry where there is the need for power and power conversion products. In particular, Powersolve has a lot of experience with lithium batteries and lithium battery chargers for the communications industry particularly in encrypted radio systems, where it has supplied many millions of pounds worth of intelligent battery chargers used in radio communication equipment for the emergency services.

Now, Powersolve has announced a whole family of power sources and chargers that are designed specifically to work with all popular smart phones, tablets, MP3 players, digital cameras and any other product that uses standard USB charging technology.

“There is a fast growing demand for power sources that provide a charging capability when away from a mains supply,” said Peter Clark, managing director at Powersolve. “Lots of so-called power banks available today are simply not capable of providing enough power to charge a smart phone and, in fact, many do not even meet the maker’s claimed specification. Ours provide enough power to charge practically any device that is normally charged via a PC USB outlet, USB phone charger or tablet PC charger. Many of our power banks will charge the average smart phone several times and some even use solar power for those truly ‘out of the way’ applications,” added Clark.

Pocket-size charging capability

Powersolve’s PSB3800 (3800mAh) and PSB8000 (8000mAh) use long-life cycle lithium polymer batteries to provide sufficient power to charge the average smart phone up to four times from a single charge. Both models are pocket-sized – the smaller PSB3800 measures just 100 x 59 x 11mm while the more powerful PSB8000 is 124 x 70 x 13mm.

The PS3800 will charge a typical smart phone 1.5 to 2 times while the larger model doubles the charging capability.

Both models feature simple operation and incorporate a pushbutton LED torch as well as LED indication of internal battery condition. They come complete with charging cable and connectors for the most popular smart phones and mobile devices.

Charged by sunlight

Designed using mono-crystalline 3.2W solar panels and an integral 5000mAh Lithium Polymer battery, the SOL3W solar charger can be charged by sunlight (7-10 hours) or USB charger (5 – 6 hours).

“There are many solar chargers available that are simply not capable of providing enough power to even half charge a smart phone,” said Clark. The SOL3W can more than treble the talk time.”

The SOL3W is a “book” style charger which, when closed, measures just 6 x 4in. Powersolve’s design provides intelligent protection circuitry for the battery while LED indicators show when the charger is in use, charging or fully charged.

Like the slim chargers, it comes complete with charging cable and eight connectors for the most popular smart phones and mobile devices.

Charge ten at a time

This 10 port, 60W USB charger provides either ten 5V, 1A outputs or five 5V, 2.4A outputs which are switch selectable and indicated by LEDs. The PLV60-USB has a built-in intelligent multiple protection function for over-current, over-voltage, short circuit and over-temperature conditions.

The charger conforms to all normal EMC and EMI standards, is CE marked and carries full international safety certification. It will operate from a universal 90 – 264 VAC input.

Housed in a stylish, robust desktop plastic enclosure, the PLV60-USB is supplied as standard with an IEC320 C8 2 pin-based UK mains lead.

Plug-Top USB chargers

These AC/DC single and dual USB chargers work with any device that can be charged using a standard 5VDC USB charger.

Operating from a universal 90 – 264VAC input, the PKS-USB Series includes three models – single output 5V 1A, single output 5V 2.1A, or dual output 5V 1A and 2A.

“These are high quality plug-top USB chargers that can be used to charge any device, normally powered via a standard USB interface, anywhere in the world,” said Clark. “They meet all relevant International Safety Approvals and meet the EMC requirements of EN55022’B, CISPR22’B and FCC’B,” he added.

Each charger comes complete with interchangeable AC heads for UK, USA, Europe and Australia.
