On October 6th, the Jacob Group are holding their first virtual event, Jacob Insights. Either on the go or from your office, you will be able to access practical insights an

d product innovations via the interactive exhibition area. You can find out more about how our products are used in customer case studies, exchange ideas on future technologies and take this opportunity to ask your questions directly to our sales team and our technical experts. All the information and material will be available online for up to four week after the event for those who are unable to join.

Registration is simple – sign up for free here> https://meetyoo.live/register/1/Jacob-Insights-EN

If you have any questions in the meantime, call us on 01694 722841. We look forward to meeting you!

JACOB mass produce a range of thin-wall, fully-welded modular steel pipework & ducting components for air-conveying, extract-lines or gravity chutes. Normally delivered from

stock, 21 standard diameters are available from 60mm to 1600mm in a choice of 1mm, 2mm or 3mm thick powder coated, galvanised or stainless steel. Diameters of 350mm and above are available with loose or welded flange connections.

Each component has a machine-lipped end which, when fitted with a specially designed “U” shaped gasket & Quick-Connect pull-ring, creates a 3-bar overpressure certified connection. Hence high-pressure tightness can be achieved in a pipe system with the capability of fast installation and fast dismantling when needed.

Air movement characteristics inside a JACOB pipeline are enhanced thanks to smooth-pressed bends, which assist airflow with the minimum of resistance. A wide range of accessories complements the pipework – inspection doors, visualisation ducts, product-control and air-control valves & diverters are press-formed to high tolerances.

This low-cost range of mass-produced products compare favourably with custom-built sheetmetal ductwork. All moving components are available to ATEX-certified standards on request – earthing continuity can be achieved either through using conductive elastomer gaskets or by adding a mechanical bridge over each connection.

These pipe systems are a favourite choice for centralised vacuum cleaning due to their tight connections, fast assembly and ability to be easily disassembled for cleaning or maintenance. Popular in food industries, bulk handling and environmental applications, JACOB systems are found in industries as diverse as potato crisps to petrochemicals or sugar to semi-conductors.

At Jacob, we pride ourselves on being able to offer a product that bridges an extraordinary number of applications and industries. Whilst the principal of product selection is simplified with our technical sales catalogue, there are always variants to each requirement. For this reason, we have put together some of our most frequently asked questions:

Q: what are some factors to consider for a pneumatic conveying system?

  • Transfer rate of material >

JACOB pipework systems can operate under positive and negative pressures, JACOB certified pipework, if configured correctly, are shock explosion proof to 3 bar or 10 bar overpressure. This is an important safety factor, particularly when conveting solids and gases that have explosive properties

  • Distance to convey >

Available in standard lengths from 6 metres to 50mm, the lipped end and pull ring connection allows easy and fast installation over any distance. We can

also supply the system with flanged connections if required.

  • Pipe Diameter >

Available in diameters from 60mm to 1600mm, there is a size to suit your individual application

Q: what are some key prerequisites for a dust and fume extraction system?

  • Oil Mist Extraction? >

Oil Mist is produced when oil or coolant is prayed onto parts in a manufacturing process. JACOB Quick Connect pull rings and u-seals are ideally suited, and provide tight connection, to eliminate any potential risks to health

  • Dust Extraction? >

JACOB pipework systems now include a full range of cyclones. In addition, potentially explosive dusts can be handled with Jacob ATEX certified pneumatic valves to ensure safety

  • Fume Extraction? >

Fume control is essential to avoid a hazardous working environment. JACOB u-seals can be selected to suit the properties of different application requirements, alongside the material finish of the pipe components

Q: what should I consider before installing a bulk handling system?

  • Material Type >

Abrasive or corrosive materials can affect the longevity of a pipe component. To prevent damage due to corrosion in mild steels, our components are protected – choose from JACOB stainless steel, powder coated, spray primed or galvanised components. Available in 1-3mm wall thickness as standard.

  • Food Grade Application >

Our FOOD GRADE line of products complies with both the European EC1935/2004 regulations and the American FDA guidelines. All components that come into contact with food made exclusively from high grade stainless steels. In addition, we use adhesive-free vulcanised u-seals and ring seals
